About

I am a native of Southern California. I’ve been drawing since I was a child and work in various media including polymer clay, ceramics as well as etching, drawing, painting, watercolor pencil and digital art. I have studied art at various Community Colleges in Southern California.

My art has a variety of themes and categories as reflected here on my website. Often it is an expression of my personal quest for spiritual meaning or inspired by my dreams. It is usually figurative or includes animals or a landscape in some aspect.

The Pike drawings are the continuation of a series of historical drawings of celebrations from old amusement parks that I recall from my childhood at the Santa Cruz boardwalk. I miss the old beach resort amusement parks from the early 2oth century with their dark rides and carnival atmosphere. Today we have lost the mystery of those places with their fortune tellers and freak show feeling.

Ancient history, sacred temples and the mother Goddess also inspire me. The Goddess connects us to our ancestors and celebrates the feminine nurturing aspect in us all, men and women.

The Wildwoman was inspired by direct shamanic traveling experience. She symbolizes our wild untamed nature. The tribal human animal who lives in us all, passionate, creative, brave, impulsive, and misunderstood. She is calm and deliberate yet, she expresses our kinship with the beasts of the earth and our desire to be out in the sacred wilds of nature. When we stand-alone in the desert that kinship is felt deep in our bones, then we long to let go of our everyday civilized life, to return to the wild and run free like the wolf.
